Participatory budgeting (PB) is an exceptionally successful way of involving citizens in municipal politics. The idea was born in Latin America in the late 1980s, and it has been copied all over the world. Giovanni Allegretti is a social scientist who specialises in PB and has co-authored an ENGAGEMENT GLOBAL publication on the matter. He shared his insights in an interview with D+C/E+Z’s Eva-Maria Verfürth.
