Qualquer agir humano, individual e societário é sustentado por uma elaboração teológica, seja aceitando ou recusando um horizonte de transcendência, com destaque para o domínio das leis. Uma das maiores dificuldades da produção e da abordagem dessas fórmulas teológicas encontra-se no facto de existirem, nas suas raízes, doutrinas e subtrações essencialistas que limitam perspectivas pedagógicas abertas que considerem a problemática da libertação como processo. Libertação do quê? Do sofrimento e do medo. As distintas formas religiosas insinuam-se, movimentam-se e edificam-se sempre nos meandros da dor física, moral e psíquica e do temor, do pavor, do susto. Mas todos os outros dinamismos de violência, de dominação, ou controlo também se exercitam em torno destas duas dimensões da percepção humana e favorecem a rigidez, a cristalização, mesmo as formas mais primordiais de relação entre indivíduos e grupos. Na reflexão sobre o agir, suas potencialidades e limites, o foco da libertação como pedagogia acarreta as capacidades de persistência e de «pôr de pé» em experiências que adquiram significado fora ou para além do estabelecido e da «ordem» como paradigma de controlo do humano.

Hopes and disappointments expressed by liberation as theological thought

Any human, individual and societal action is supported by a theological elaboration, whether accepting or refusing a horizon of transcendence, especially the dominance of the laws. One of the greatest difficulties in producing and addressing these theological formulas lies in the fact that there are, at their roots, essentialist doctrines and subtractions that limit pedagogical perspectives that consider the issue of liberation as a process. Liberation from what? From suffering and fear. The different religious forms always hint, move and build on the intricacies of physical, moral and psychic pain and fear, dread and fright. But all other dynamics of violence, domination, and control also exert themselves around these two dimensions of human perception and favor rigidity, crystallization, even in the most primordial forms of relationship between individuals and groups. In the reflection on action, its potentialities and limits, the focus of liberation as pedagogy brings the capacity of persistence and “standing” in experiences that acquire meaning outside or beyond the establishment and “order” conceived as a paradigm for controlling the human environment.
