Raymond Torres is currently the Director of the International Institute for Labour Studies of the International Labor Organization. He is responsible for its annual ‘World of Work Report’, one of ILO’s most important socioeconomic publications. Before joining the ILO, he held several relevant positions as an economist, both in OCDE and in academia. Professor Ferrara está actualmente a preparar um livro cujo título provisório é "The Democratic Horizon: Openness, Hyperpluralism and the Renewal of Political Liberalism." Desde a década de 1980 dedica-se sobretudo à investigação nas Ciências do Ambiente e em especial às Mudanças Globais e Alterações Climáticas. É professor convidado de várias universidades prestigiadas dos Estados Unidos da América e da Europa. Com cerca de cento e vinte artigos científicos publicados, coordenou a redação do primeiro e único Livro Branco sobre o Estado do Ambiente em Portugal, publicado em 1991. Integra desde 1998 o Conselho Nacional do Ambiente e do Desenvolvimento Sustentável e é membro efetivo da Academia das Ciências de Lisboa. Foi galardoado com o Prémio Universidade de Lisboa 2008, em reconhecimento da sua carreira científica e do seu contributo para o desenvolvimento das políticas públicas nas áreas do Ambiente e do Desenvolvimento Sustentável. O Prof. Filipe Duarte Santos foi orador convidado no Colóquio Internacional 'Portugal entre Desassossegos e Desafios', organizado pelo CES em 17 e 18 de Fevereiro de 2011, com uma intervenção no Painel 'Reinventar a economia e viver bem'. Esta entrevista foi realizada por Tiago Santos Pereira e Rita Serra, ambos investigadores do CES. Filipe Duarte Santos is Professor of Physics at the Department of Sciences, the University of Lisbon. Since the 1980s, he has been working within the field of Environmental Sciences and especially on issues of Global and Climate Change. He has served as visiting professor in various universities in Europe and the US.  He published over 120 scientific articles and, in 1991, coordinated the first and only White Paper on the State of the Environment in Portugal.  Since 1998 Prof. Duarte Santos is part of the National Council for Environment and Sustainable Development and is an active member of the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon. In 2008 he was awarded the University of Lisbon Prize, in recognition of his scientific career and his contribution to the development of public policies in the areas of the Environment and Sustainable Development. Prof. Filipe Duarte Santos was a keynote speaker in the international conference 'Portugal between Disquiets and Challenges', organised at CES between the 17th and 18th of February 2011. O Professor D'Souza ensinou ciência política na Universidade de Goa durante 16 anos, tendo chefiado o departamento entre 1996 e 2002. Foi também um dos três investigadores principais de um estudo comparativo envolvendo cinco nações, sobre o Estado da Democracia no Sul da Ásia (2006), publicado pela Oxford University Press.
